About the New Jersey CDL skid control and recovery test
This New Jersey CDL skid control and recovery test covers the questions most applicants get wrong on the first attempt. Skids come from driving too fast for conditions, braking too hard, steering too abruptly, or overloading a drive axle - and the exam expects you to identify the cause, not just recite the fix. A drive-wheel skid calls for releasing the brakes, easing off the accelerator, and countersteering smoothly; a front-wheel skid means you have no steering at all until those tires regain traction.
Jackknife items ask about trailer swing on slick pavement and why a lightly loaded trailer can be less stable than a full one. Anti-lock brake questions test whether you understand that ABS helps you steer, not stop shorter.
Fifty questions and an 80 percent pass line - 40 correct - is the New Jersey CDL general knowledge format for 2026. Pair this skid control drill with the emergency handling sections of the New Jersey CDL Manual.
Every question traces back to the New Jersey CDL Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
