About the Utah CDL lights and signals test
Lights and signals are one of the most frequently tested parts of a Utah CDL pre-trip exam, and this practice test covers headlights, brake lights, turn signals, hazard flashers, and reflectors one at a time. A single burned-out bulb can be a genuine out-of-service issue.
You will be asked how to check each light works correctly, including having someone confirm brake lights and turn signals from outside the cab, what reflector spacing and condition examiners look for, and which lighting defects count as critical versus something you can note and fix later. Utah takes lighting defects seriously on the real exam.
Because Utah does not set a fixed lights-and-signals question count, use the Utah CDL Manual to confirm any specific defect classification this drill raises. Run through this quiz until every light and reflector check feels routine before your Utah CDL pre-trip test in 2026.
Every question traces back to the Utah CDL Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
