California DMV Practice Test 1: what to expect and what trips people up
Think of this as your starting line. It's the first of five full-length California practice tests, and it's built to catch the basics that trip people up before anything fancy does. The biggest one is right-of-way. At a four-way stop, the first vehicle to arrive goes first, and when two of you stop at the same moment, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. Roundabouts flip the instinct some people have: you yield to traffic already circling, then merge when there's a gap. And no matter what a sign or signal says, you always yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
Work through this one slowly and treat every wrong answer as a note to yourself. It's free, there's no signup, and you can retake it as many times as you want until the fundamentals feel automatic.
Every question traces back to the California Driver's Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
