About the California CDL hazard classes test
Nine hazard classes sit underneath every placard, shipping paper, and package marking you will ever handle. This California CDL hazmat hazard classes test drills them until the numbers mean something instead of being trivia - explosives, gases, flammable liquids, flammable solids, oxidizers and organic peroxides, poisons and infectious substances, radioactive material, corrosives, and the miscellaneous class.
Recognizing the class is what drives every later decision. It tells you which materials cannot ride together in the same load, which ones the California Commercial Driver Handbook flags for special attendance and parking rules, and which combinations force a change in how you placard. The hazard classes drill also works on division numbers within a class, since a 2.1 flammable gas and a 2.3 poison gas ask very different things of you on the road.
Study this before the segregation and placarding material in your 2026 California CDL hazmat prep - the rest of the H endorsement leans on it. Check your California CDL Manual for the exact exam length.
