About the Colorado motorcycle turning & cornering test
Cornering is where motorcycling gets both thrilling and technical, so this test focuses on how a bike actually turns. At speed you steer by countersteering - press the handgrip on the side you want to lean toward - which surprises many new riders until they feel it work.
The set also covers the slow-look-press-roll sequence and choosing a smart cornering line: slow before the curve, look through it to where you want to go, press to initiate lean, then roll on the throttle to stabilize. That rhythm keeps your Class M riding predictable and safe.
Colorado's roads include plenty of curves, and the Colorado Motorcycle Operator Manual explains these techniques in depth. The Colorado DMV exam holds 25 questions with an 80% pass mark in 2026, so understanding turning and cornering theory now pays off on both the written test and every twisty road.
Every question traces back to the Colorado Motorcycle Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
