About the Delaware motorcycle turning & cornering test
Cornering is where motorcycling becomes an art, and this test measures whether you understand the technique behind it. Central to it is countersteering: at speed you press the handgrip on the side you want to turn toward, and the bike leans that way. It feels backward until it clicks.
You will also review the slow-look-press-roll approach to curves - adjust speed before the turn, look through it to where you want to go, press to initiate the lean, then roll on smooth throttle to stabilize. Choosing a good cornering line keeps you safe and in your lane.
These skills feature on the 2026 Delaware exam, which runs 25 questions and requires 80% for a Class M endorsement. For diagrams of proper lines and lean, the Delaware Motorcycle Operator Manual remains your most reliable reference.
Every question traces back to the Delaware Motorcycle Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
