About the Minnesota motorcycle passengers & cargo test

Adding a passenger or a load changes how your motorcycle behaves, and this Minnesota set prepares you for it. Extra weight lengthens stopping distance, slows acceleration, and alters balance, so a rider carrying a passenger or cargo has to plan farther ahead and ride more smoothly than when riding solo.

Questions cover briefing a passenger to hold on, keep their feet on the pegs, and lean with you through turns, plus loading cargo low and secure so it does not shift or affect handling. You may also need to adjust tire pressure and suspension for the added weight, and you should ease into braking and cornering.

This handling knowledge appears on the 40-question Class M exam, which requires 80% correct to pass in 2026. The Minnesota Motorcycle Operator Manual from the Minnesota DVS explains how passengers and cargo affect control, so review it before you ever ride two-up or fully loaded.

Every question traces back to the Minnesota Motorcycle Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
