About the New Jersey CDL coupling test
Coupling a second trailer adds steps, and the New Jersey CDL doubles and triples coupling test walks all of them in order. Secure the first trailer, position the dolly, connect the dolly to the rear of the first trailer, back the dolly under the second trailer, lock the kingpin, connect the air and light lines, then check that air reaches every trailer in the set.
The drill also asks the questions that separate a careful driver from a hurried one: why the second trailer must be supported before you back under it, why you never uncouple a loaded dolly on a slope, and how you verify the pintle latch and safety chains before you roll.
Nothing here reproduces exam content; these are original items describing the T endorsement skills the New Jersey MVC expects. The manual sets the exact 2026 count, so look it up in your New Jersey CDL Manual rather than assuming a number.
Every question traces back to the New Jersey CDL Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
