About the New Jersey CDL uncoupling test
Taking a set apart safely is its own procedure, and the New Jersey CDL doubles and triples uncoupling test drills it step by step. Park straight on level ground, set the parking brakes on the trailers, lower the landing gear on the rear trailer, disconnect its air and light lines, release the dolly fifth wheel, pull the dolly clear, then unhook the dolly from the trailer ahead of it.
Order matters here more than almost anywhere else. The drill asks why you never unhook a dolly still under a loaded trailer, why the dolly tow bar should be secured before you move, and what happens to a trailer left standing on soft ground at a busy New Jersey warehouse lot.
These are original practice items built from the doubles and triples chapter of your New Jersey CDL Manual. Check that same manual for the exact 2026 T endorsement question count, since state rules rather than federal rules set the length.
Every question traces back to the New Jersey CDL Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
