About the New Jersey CDL seeing hazards test
Hazard perception separates drivers who react from drivers who plan, and this New Jersey CDL seeing hazards test trains the difference. The drill works through road hazards such as potholes, work zones, and soft shoulders; user hazards such as a car drifting inside its lane, a driver looking at a phone, or a blocked view at an intersection; and the small clues that a parked car is about to pull out - exhaust at the tailpipe, front wheels turned outward, a head visible in the mirror.
The exam wants you to name a hazard before it becomes an emergency and to explain why early recognition buys stopping distance. On crowded New Jersey arterials that habit is worth more than fast reflexes.
Keep the target in view: the New Jersey CDL general knowledge exam asks 50 questions and requires 80 percent, or 40 right answers. Read the seeing hazards chapter of the New Jersey CDL Manual, then take this 2026 CDL practice test again.
Every question traces back to the New Jersey CDL Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
