About the Washington motorcycle turning & cornering test
Cornering is where motorcycling gets its reputation for both joy and risk, and this quiz makes sure you understand the physics. Countersteering push the left grip to go left feels backward until it clicks, and at speed it is how every turn actually begins. This set checks that the concept is locked in, not just memorized.
You will also work through the slow-look-press-roll sequence: set your entry speed early, turn your head to where you want to go, press the grip to lean, then roll on smooth throttle through the corner. Choosing good cornering lines and reading the curve ahead are judgment skills the Washington DOL values, and the Washington Motorcycle Operator Manual breaks each step down clearly.
Expect cornering scenarios on the 2026 Class M exam. Since you need 80% of the 25 questions right, truly understanding how a Washington rider negotiates a turn rather than guessing pays off directly on test day.
Every question traces back to the Washington Motorcycle Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
