About the California Parking Rules test
California's parking rules trip people up because they are mostly about small numbers and habits you never think about while driving. Start with the curb colors, since that is where points get lost. Red means no stopping or parking, yellow is for loading, white is a quick passenger drop-off, green is time-limited parking, and blue is reserved for disabled parking with the proper placard. The white-versus-green mix-up is the classic slip, so lock those two in first.
The rest comes down to distance and wheel direction. Stay at least 15 feet back from a fire hydrant, and never block a disabled-access ramp. On hills, point your wheels toward the curb when facing downhill so a rolling car drifts into the curb, and turn them away from the curb when facing uphill. Practice free, no signup, until the direction stops feeling backwards.
Every question traces back to the California Driver's Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
