About the California Warning Signs test
Warning signs in California are almost always yellow diamonds, and they exist to buy you a few seconds. They flag what is coming so you can slow down and scan before you get there. Expect curves, merges, pedestrian and bike crossings, slippery-when-wet stretches, deer areas, and school zones. In a construction or work zone the same diamond shape turns orange, and a pennant shape posted on the left side of the road marks a no-passing zone.
The trap is treating a warning like a command. A curve sign is not telling you to stop, it is telling you to ease off and look ahead. Read the symbol, picture what is around the bend, and adjust your speed before you need to. Getting comfortable with the symbols beats memorizing words. It is free to run through as often as you like, no account required.
Every question traces back to the California Driver's Manual - skim the right-of-way and signs chapters before your retake.
